Did You Know?
Papaya Orange is the famous McLaren colour, but it wasn’t always. Michael Turner was hired to design liveries for Bruce McLaren’s cars. Excitedly, he flew to Monaco to see his design, only to find the cars had been painted white with a green stripe. The movie Grand Prix had acquired the rights to use the cars and painted them white and green to represent a fictional team. As colour television became more commonplace, it was suggested that a bright, distinctive colour was needed. Papaya Orange was introduced and became the colour that symbolised McLaren.
